Women's Track & Field finished indoor season at WHAC Championships

(Grand Rapids, MI) Concordia women's track and field competed at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday February 18-19, 2022, in Grand Rapids, MI hosted by Aquinas College. The Cardinals finished 8th as a team.

 

The Cardinals saw strong performances in the field events with freshman Lena Korte (Clinton, MI) throwing 12.16m (39'10.75"), taking third in the shot put and breaking her own school record in the event. This was the third time Korte has broken her own school record this season. Korte also went on to throw 12.43m (40'9.25") in the weight throw. Joining her in the throws was fellow freshman Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI) who tossed a personal best of 9.03m in the shot put. 

 

Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) saw three personal bests in the triple jump, making finals and jumping a final best of 9.62m. Stechebar also cleared 1.50m in the high jump.

 

On the track side, the 4x800 team took a 7th place finish. The relay team composed of Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI), Chloe Gunter (Monroe, MI), Lydia Schroeder (Napoleon, OH) and Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI) crossed the finish line in a time of 10:59.32. 

 

Grabbing two points and a 7th place in the 800m was Porter, running 2:32.64. Schroeder also went on to run the 1,000m where she clocked a time of 3:36.25.

 

Megan Espinoza (Manistique, MI) ran 13:06.85 in the 3,000m.

 

Rounding out the track was the 4x400 team of Stechebar, Porter, Gunter and Trent. The relay team ran a time of 4:39.09 for a 8th place finish. 

 

This event concluded the indoor season for the Cardinals. Concordia Track & Field will begin the outdoor season on April 1-2, 2022, at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic hosted by Spring Arbor University. Keep up with the Cardinals by following the team on social media - CUAAXCTF.
