Women's Track and Field's Korte sets School Record at SVSU Classic

(University Center, MI) - The Women's Track and Field team competed at the SVSU Classic at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, January 13. The team earned 6 new collegiate marks, 3 personal records, 2 NCCAA national qualifying marks, and a school record.  

 

Lena Korte led off her season in a big way as she would break her own school record once again. Korte not only earned an NCCAA qualifying mark in Weight Throw but broke her own school record three times. The new school record now sits at 13.98 meters. Korte also competed in Shot Put, where she also had an NCCAA qualifying mark with a distance of 11.77 meters.  

 

 

Quinn Stefanski, Elsa Clausen and Hailey Stasiukinas also competed in Shot Put. Clausen finished threw a distance of 9.74 meters. While Stefanski and Stasiukinas each had personal records. Stefanski threw a distance of 9.04 meters and Stasiukinas with a distance of 8.35 meters.  

 

Stefanski and Clausen also competed in Weight Throw, along with Morgan Jenkins. Stefanski threw a distance of 10.95 meters, Clausen with a distance of 10.55 meters and Jenkins with a throw of 10.37 meters.  

 

Sierra Stechebar competed in both High Jump and Triple Jump. Stechebar jumped 8.96 meters in Triple Jump, while also clearing 1.43 meters in High Jump.  

 

Lily Kueber made her collegiate debut in long jump with a distance of 4.45 meters.  

 

The sprint group was highlighted by both Emily Belinsky and Hope Renfer. Belinsky competed in both the 60 and 200 meter dash. Belinsky ran times of 8.69 and 28.69. Renfer competed in the 200 and 300 meter races. Renfer ran times of 28.79 and 47.46.  

 

Madelyn Ankoviak and Madisyn Flamini earned their collegiate marks in the 600 with times of 2:16 and 2:20.  

 

Amanda Fogo and Alison Doerr made their collegiate debut in the 3000 meters as well. Fogo finished in a time of 13:15, while Doerr finished in a time of 14:02.  

 

The Women's team will be back at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, January 20 for the Doug Hansen Invitational.
