NCCAA Preview: Women's Track and Field set for NCCAA Championships

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia women's track and field travels to Greenville, IL this week for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championships hosted by Greenville University. The Cardinals look to better their 8th place finish at last year's championships. Events for the Cardinals will take place May 12-13, 2022.

 

Competing in this year's meet includes freshman Julia Hirt (Hartland, WI). Hirt's school record toss of 40.32m in the discus throw currently ranks her in 7th place. 

 

Graduate student Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI), a 2021 NCCAA All-American with a 3rd place finish the steeplechase, will run the 3,000m steeplechase again this year. She is currently ranked 9th.

 

Hoping to break through to the top eight places include javelin throwers Hayle Flowers (Senior; Waverly, MI) and Hailey Stasiukinas (Wyoming, MI). The duo will also run the 4x100m together alongside Hope Renfer (Northville, MI) and Emily Belinsky (Beulah, MI). Belinsky will also compete in the 200m dash and 100m hurdles. 

 

Junior Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) will compete in the triple jump, high jump and 4x400 relay. Stechebar finished 8th in the high jump at the 2021 outdoor championships. Also in the 4x400 relay will be Hope RenferLydia Schroeder (Senior; Napoleon, MI), and Elizabeth Trent (Senior; Saginaw, MI).

 

Concordia will also bring a 4x800 relay team. Schroeder, Trent, Chloe Gunter (Freshman; Monroe, MI), and Madelyn Ankoviak (Freshman; Sanford, MI) will make up the team.
