Danielle McGuiness

Danielle McGuiness enters her 5th season with the Cardinal track & field program, and first as head coach. 

 

Since joining the staff, Coach McGuiness has guided the Concordia throwers to multiple top 10 performances and school records, WHAC conference champions, National Christian College Athletic Association Champions and NAIA qualifiers. 

 

In 2023, McGuiness led Cardinal throws to another successful year. The women's school records were broken 20x between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Additionally, McGuiness led sophomore student-athletes Lena Korte and Julia Hirt to national titles. Korte, a 2x NAIA qualifier, secured the crown in the women's shot put at the 2023 NCCAA Championships. Korte also won the WHAC championships in the shot put and javelin throw. Hirt, an NAIA qualifier and WHAC runner up in the discus, took home the win in the discus throw at the NCCAA Championships.

 

In 2022, the Cardinals throws squad saw a record-breaking year with a series of new school records set on the women's side. The indoor shot put, weight throw, outdoor shot put, discus throw and javelin throw records were all broken during the year. Additionally, senior Richard Branch earned an NCCAA All-American title in the men's javelin throw. In 2021, senior Eric Bugg earned NCCAA All-American honors in the men's hammer throw.

 

McGuiness previously served as an Assistant Track & Field Coach at San Jose High School.  While coaching the throwers, the Bulldogs went on to win the 2018 League Championship.  She also coached a standout shot putter to earn multiple school records and a spot at the California state championships. 

 

McGuiness graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology, and where she was a member of the Track & Field team.  While a wildcat, she also earned American East All-Academic honors in the weight and hammer throws.  She then went on to receive a Masters of Business Administration degree from Endicott College in 2011.  She is USATF Level 2 throws coach and is a certified USATF official, association level.

 

A Massachusetts native, McGuiness graduated from Holliston High School in 2005.  She resides with her family in Ann Arbor, MI and two dogs.
