Volleyball Downed by Lourdes in Straight Sets

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia volleyball hosted Lourdes on Wednesday evening for a WHAC conference tilt. The Cardinals played tough and picked up points, but the Gray Wolves came away with a sweep.

 

Claudia Grepke and Kayla Peters tied for a team-high 9 kills. Madeline Vnuk led the team with 28 assists. McKenzie Peters secured the back end with 18 digs.

 

Set 1 – LU 25, CUAA 14

Hannah Duchene had the first Concordia kill in set 1. A pair of kills by Kayla Peters paced the offense early in the set. Hannah Duchene added two kills later on, but Lourdes pulled away to take set 1.

 

Set 2 – LU 25, CUAA 17

Jessalyn Peavyhouse and Claudia Grepke combined for a block in set 2. Tara Drinane and Madalyn Lisman notched early kill as the Cardinals once again stayed close early. Kayla Peters made 2 late kills to cut the deficit to 21-17, but Lourdes finished offset 2.

 

Set 3 – LU 25, CUAA 16

Jessalyn Peavyhouse had the first Cardinal kill in set 3. Peavyhouse added two more early kills to tie the set 5-5. Claudia Grepke smashed three kills in a row midway through and Madeline Vnuk continued to make solid sets. However, Lourdes was able to close the game in set 3.

 

Concordia will remain home to host Lawrence Tech on Friday at 7 pm.
