CSC Release

(Ann Arbor, MI)  —  The nominations for the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District Academic awards are in for the women's programs. In women's sports, Bianca Hrynciw, Breanna Ray, Rachel Yuhas, Tara Drinane, and Shannon Geiger all qualified and were nominated for the CSC All-District award.

Geiger, a junior on the women's bowling team, has been steadily improving in her time as a Cardinal as her average pins knocked down per game has climbed every season. Her GPA has also climbed to a 3.52 mark.

Hrynciw is a junior on the cheer team and played a major role in helping the Cardinals get to the NAIA National Cheer Competition. Her 3.54 GPA is also a standout mark.

Ray has excelled on her way to being a key piece to the NAIA National Cheer Competition runner up team. Ray has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.89 GPA through her first two years at Concordia.

Yuhas has proven to be a great addition for the women's golf team. She lowered her average round score from her freshman season to her sophomore season and has earned an impressive 3.88 GPA.

Drinane is a junior who made an immediate impact on the field for the women's lacrosse team. She scored 7 goals in her first season donning the Cardinal red and has earned a 3.59 GPA in her first academic year at Concordia.

The 2023 Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

College Sports Communicators is a 3,200+ member national association for strategic, creative, and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The organization was previously known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and was changed to its new name in August of 2022.

Nominees for the All-District team must have participated in at least 50% of the team's matches throughout the season while also maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50. The student-athlete must also complete one full calendar year at the institution and reach sophomore athletic eligibility in order to qualify for the honor.

All five Cardinals will now be placed on the ballot for CSC All-America consideration with those teams being released on June 22nd.
