Men's Hockey loses 2-0 to Indiana Tech

(Chelsea, MI) – The Concordia men's hockey hosted 13th-ranked Indiana Tech on Friday night in the first half of a weekend home-and-home WHAC series. The Warriors struck late in the first and third period of the contest, and held on for a 2-0 win in the low scoring affair.

Indiana Tech controlled from the jump, possessing the puck for most of the first two periods and outshooting the Cardinals 20-5 over the course of the pair of frames. With just 3:12 to go in the first, the Warriors picked up a goal to possess a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinals would hold off the Warriors through the first two frames, however, keeping the contest at just a one score deficit while battling for opportunities to tie the game.

In the third period, Concordia continued to push, firing 10 shots on goal with a few noteworthy opportunities. Despite the chances and multiple powerplays, CUAA was unable to convert, and Indiana Tech bounced on an opportunity late in the third, redirecting a point shot for their second score of the game. The game would end with that tally, as the Warriors took home a 2-0 victory over the Cardinals.

Anthony Seykora received the start in net for Concordia, and was stellar between the pipes. Seykora made 29 saves, including several on odd man rushes, to keep the Cardinals within striking range.

CUAA will be back in action Saturday evening as they head to Indiana Tech for a conference matchup against the Warriors. Puck drop is set for 5:30pm at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse in Fort Wayne, IN.
