Seykora and Kepple earn WHAC Player of the Week honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has announced their weekly winners for players of the week this Monday and Concordia's Anthony Seykora and Hunter Kepple received honors for defensive and offensive players of the week respectively.

The Cardinals upset the 17th ranked UM-Dearborn Wolverines in a sweep last weekend with scores of 2-1 and 5-3.

Seykora, a freshman from Sioux Falls, SD, wins the award for the second time this season, after a standout game on Friday saving 32 of the 33 shots that he faced. Seykora picked up his fifth win of the season, which marks the most in a single season for a Cardinal goalie.

Kepple, a senior from Freeport, PA, saw his best series of the season with 3 goals and 2 assists. In the second game of the series, Kepple tied the single-game record for points in a game with four as he tallied 2 goals and 2 assists in the game.

Hunter Kepple joins Brandon Troyer, Brayden Tayles, and Anthony Seykora as past winners for the WHAC awards. Seykora is the second Cardinal to receive player of the week honors twice, and the first to do it twice in a season.

The Cardinals men's hockey team will be back in action on Friday, February 4th as they will travel to Lawrence Tech for the front end of a home-and-home series against the Blue Devils. Puck drop will be at 7:30 pm.
