Lindle's hattrick leads Concordia in their sweep of Duquesne

(Canton, MI) Concordia Men's Hockey returned to the Arctic Edge Saturday afternoon for another tilt against the Duquesne Dukes. The Cardinals saw their second hattrick in as many days, as Ethan Lindle led the Cardinals to a 9-4 win, to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

 

Ethan Lindle led the Cardinals with 3 goals on the night. Derek Hebner tied Lindle with 4 points, by way of a goal and 3 assists. Nicholas Twombley was third in points with 3 total. Anthony Seykora tallied 24 saves between the pipes in the win.

 

The Dukes drew first blood with a goal less than five minutes into the game. Concordia responded quickly, when Ethan Lindle brought the game back to even twenty seconds later. Duquesne tacked on two goals in quick succession around three minutes later. Then, mere seconds into the Cardinals' first power play opportunity of the night, Kyle Hebner cut the lead down to one. The Cardinals were unable to convert their second power play chance of the period, and went into the locker room down a goal.

 

The Cardinal offense exploded for four goals in the second period to retake the lead. It started when Derek Hebner scored twelve minutes into the period to knot things up at 3-3. Twelve seconds later Seth Francois gave Concordia their first lead of the game. Chase Temple and Nicholas Twombley added on insurance goals later in the period to put the Cardinals up by three.

 

Concordia scored another three in the final period to make it eight straight. Ethan Lindle got it started with his second goal of the night, with a power play opportunity five minutes into the third. Carson Ediger added his name to the scoresheet just under three minutes later. Then, eight minutes into the third period, Ethan Lindle completed the hattrick, the second Cardinal to do such this season. The Dukes tacked on a goal with just over a minute remaining, but it was too little too late, as Concordia went on to win 9-4.

 

Next up for the Cardinals will be a pair of away games at John Carroll, starting with the first on Friday, September 29th. Puck drop is set for 8:10 at the Gilmour Academy Ice Arena in Gates Mills, Ohio.
