Men's Hockey soars past Rochester 8-2

(Canton, MI) Concordia Men's Hockey continued WHAC play Friday afternoon with a contest against Rochester on their home ice. Concordia came away with an 8-2 victory for the conference win.

Anthony Seykora stopped 23 shots between the pipes for the Cardinals. McCarthy Clark led Concordia in points with a goal and three assists. Sam Sahr netted a pair of goals to lead the team in that category.

The first 15 minutes of the game was more fluid, with neither side able to beat the other goaltender. Seth Francois drew first blood for the Cardinals when we had an open look on goal and buried the puck into the top left corner of the net. A minute and a half later it was Brayden Tayles in front of the crease who was able to get a piece of McCarthy Clark's shot to deflect it in.

Concordia picked up where they left off going into the second period, scoring a pair of goals in quick succession three minutes in. Brandon Troyer and McCarthy Clark tacked on a goal each to increase the Cardinal advantage to four. Rochester cut into the lead three minutes later when Tirned Kabamba Mwamba put a shot across the crease which was finished by Kyle Banks for the Warriors. Concordia responded with another pair of goals to take a five-goal advantage into the second intermission. The first was scored by Sam Sahr who scrapped to put a loose puck in front of the net past the goaltender. Bryce Iott later took a chance from the blue line and caught the Warriors off guard to score Concordia's sixth.

Sam Sahr scored a second goal half a minute into the third period to increase Concordia's lead. Jordan Winrod connected with Bobby Kulka on a breakaway goal to give Rochester their second goal. Kyle Heber put in a goal with just over three minutes remaining to keep the Concordia lead at six for the final.

The Cardinals will be back in action again Saturday, October 28th when they travel to Rochester. Puck drop is set for 1:30 PM at Fraser Hockeyland.
