Men's Hockey sweeps Rochester with 4-1 win on Saturday

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals rounded out their short two-game series against the Rochester Warriors in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on Saturday afternoon as they would extend their winning streak to three games with a 4-1 victory. The Cardinals would leave with a record of 7-3-2 overall and a 4-3-1 WHAC record, while the Warriors would fall to 0-8-0 overall and 0-6-0 in WHAC play.  on the season

 

Nolan Foster would start in goal for the Cardinals picking up his second career win while making 28 saves. Blake Mitchell earned the loss for the Warriors and is now 0-7 on the season. 

 

Rochester grabbed the first lead in the game just under the 13-minute mark in the period with a goal from Tirned Kabamba Mwamba. The Cardinals had 27 shots on goal in the first period to Rochester's 19. 

 

The Rochester lead would only last for a short time into the second period as Jackson Blough scored 3:30 into the period. Blough would score on assists from Nicholas Twombley and Seth Francois. Six minutes later while on a powerplay the Cardinals tacked on another goal as Kyle Hebner would put the eventual game-winner in the back of the net. Garrett Benoit assisted on the goal. The final goal of the period came with 1:32 remaining in the period as Tyler Bieniek scored his second goal of the season with assists from Seth Francois and Derek Hebner

 

The final period of the game saw 19 shots from the Cardinals as Tyler Bieniek would convert one of those shots into the fourth Cardinal goal of the game. His brother Quinn Bieniek assisted on the goal. 

 

The Cardinals are back in action next weekend with a matchup against #12 Indiana Tech with a home-and-home series with the Friday Matchup taking place in Fort Wayne, IN with a 7:30 PM puck drop.
