Men's Hockey's comeback bid falls short as they fall 6-4 to Lawrence Tech

(Farmington, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals head to Farmington to round out the season series with the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils as the Cardinals looked to even the series. CUAA was not able to overcome the 4-0 lead that the Blue Devils created throughout the first period and a half. The Cardinals leave the game with an 8-11-1 record, while LTU is now 12-8-0 on the season.

Anthony Seykora started in goal for the Cardinals as he falls to 4-4 on the season after saving 19 of the 25 shots he faced.

LTU picked up two goals in the first period of the game at the 7:12 and the 19:15 mark. The Blue Devils also outscored Concordia 11-9.

In the second period, they started off much of the same as they picked up a power-play goal 41 seconds into the period. They added to their lead about seven minutes later to make it a 4-0 game. Just a minute late Seth Francois took advantage of the Blue Devils goaltender turning the puck over out of the net as he landed it in the back of the net as Tyler Bieniek and Brandon Troyer assisted on the play. CUAA scored on a breakaway run with Nicholas Twombley getting on the board on assists from Chase Temple and Bryce Iott. The Cardinals came within a goal when Derek Hebner finished off a shot from his brother Kyle Hebner to make it 4-3 after two.

It was another solid scoring period as three goals made it into the back of the nets, with two coming from the LTU side and one from the CUAA side. Concordia tied the game up 5 minutes into the period off the stick of Sam Sahr off an LTU turnover in the Cards offensive half as Kyle Hebner picked up his second point of the evening with another assist. The rest of the game would favor the Blue Devils as they scored twice in the final 13 minutes to win the game 6-4.

CUAA would outshoot the Blue Devils by a margin of 42-25 on the night.

The Cardinals are back in action next weekend when they play Cleary twice with a home game on Friday, January 12 with a 8:30pm puck drop.
