Men's Hockey falls 7-3 to Cleary on Saturday

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals took the ice for the first time in a week after seeing last night's game postponed due to weather. The Cardinals traveled to Howell, Michigan to compete against the Cleary Cougars on Saturday night. The Cardinals entered the evening at 8-10-2 overall and 5-10-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play while the Cougars were 10-16 overall and 6-10 in WHAC play.

Concordia took the early lead in the first period when Zane Rydel received a pass from Brandon Troyer and put it into the back of the net for the early 1-0 lead 6 minutes into the game. Cleary did not wait long to tie it up as less than a minute later they tied up the game at 1. With 31 seconds remaining in the period, the Cougars would give themselves the 2-1 lead.

The second period saw CUAA put up two goals, including a power play goal. The first goal was put in the net by Carson Ediger, which was the power play, with seven minutes left in the period. The second goal came off the stick of Kyle Hebner who received a pass from Ediger.

Even with the Cardinals outshooting the Cougars in the final period of play, 14-11, the Cougars would put up five goals in the final 20 minutes to close out the game.

The Cardinals are back in action next Thursday, January 18th, when they take on Purdue Northwest at home with a 7:30 pm puck drop.
