Men's Hockey concludes regular season at #11 Purdue-Northwest

(Hammond, IN) Concordia Men's Hockey took to the ice one final time for the 2023-24 regular season when they travelled to Purdue Northwest. The 11th ranked Pride had taken the first game of the series earlier in January, and came away with the sweep after a 6-2 finish on Tuesday evening.

Purdue Northwest drew first blood with a goal 11 minutes into the first period. The Cardinals stormed back, starting with a power play goal from Chase Temple. Before the conclusion of the first period, Concordia netted a second power play goal, as Carson Ediger gave the Cards the lead heading into the first intermission.

The Cardinals only committed one penalty in the second period, but were not able to kill it as the Pride evened up the game just under six minutes into the period. The reclaimed the lead with a goal four minutes later, and then made the lead two with a shorthanded goal to end the period.

Purdue Northwest took advantage of the power play opportunities they were given in the third period scoring an additional two man-up goals as insurance. The Pride ultimately won 6-2. Anthony Seykora started in between the pipes for Concordia and saved 37 shots on the day.

The Cardinals will now await their final seeding for the WHAC tournament which will be hosted by UM-Dearborn starting on Friday, February 16th.
