Men's Hockey falls in overtime against Indiana Tech in WHAC Semifinal

(Dearborn, MI) - Concordia men's hockey faced off against top-seeded Indiana Tech in the second round of the WHAC tournament on Saturday. The game required extra time to decide with the Cardinals fighting to the end, but the Warriors took the 3-2 win.

 

Zachary Janis played a full game in net, making 37 saves. The Cardinals struck first when Quinn Bieniek scored an unassisted shorthanded goal. Indiana Tech countered with a powerplay goal later in the frame to tie the game 1-1 after the first period.

In the second period, Tyler Bieniek notched a powerplay goal with assists by Chase Temple and Brandon Troyer. Indiana Tech responded with a marker and the contest was tied 2-2 after two periods.

The third period was dominated by defense with Indiana Tech holding a narrow 13-11 edge in shots. The Cardinals killed off a late penalty and the match headed to overtime tied 2-2.

Both teams traded chances in overtime with Concordia killing off another penalty. However, Indiana Tech was able to score and end the game with a 3-2 win.
