Baseball tops Siena Heights to complete doubleheader sweep

(Ann Arbor, MI) - On Tuesday afternoon Concordia baseball hosted rival Siena Heights to complete game 2 of their weekend doubleheader which was suspended due to rain.  The game resumed in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  The Cardinals erased an early deficit to claim a 7-6 victory.  

 
On Saturday, Dylan Kints started game 2 on the mound, pitching the first 2 innings.  Siena Heights took a 3-0 lead after the second inning.  Owen Johnson came in to pitch in the 3rd inning.  Justin Kozlowski hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 3rd.  The game was suspended due to rain with Josh Burke at first base and Tyler Lawson at second base.  At that time, Drew Fleming was due up to bat. 
On Tuesday, Owen Johnson continued pitching a total of 6 innings with 7 strikeouts.  Siena Heights scored a run in the top of the fourth but the Cardinals rallied with six runs in the bottom half to take the lead.  Harrison Ryan started things off with an RBI single scoring Tyler Wressel.  Justin Kozlowski hit a 2-RBI double that drove in Ryan and Jake Kuhlman to tie the game.  Aaron West used a sacrifice fly to score Kozlowski for a go-ahead run.
 
 Drew Fleming had an RBI double to drive in Josh Burke and Logan Hylek hit an RBI single to score Fleming.  
Siena Heights pulled within a run in the 9th inning.  Blake Weaver and Ryan Kotecki combined on the mound in the inning with Kotecki securing the final strikeout for the victory.  
 
Concordia will host Rochester Christian this Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
