Baseball tops Cleary twice in WHAC doubleheader
(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia baseball hosted Cleary for a WHAC doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon.  The Cardinals claimed a 9-4 victory in the 7-inning contest and won 12-2 in a rain-shortened five inning game. 
 
GAME 1 – CUAA 9, Cleary 4 (seven innings) 
Owen Johnson started game one on the mound, going three innings with six strikeouts.  The Cardinals struck first when Josh Burke scored after an error in the Cleary outfield.  Tyler Wressel added an RBI double to score Drew Fleming and Aaron West hit a 2-RBI single to drive in Wressel and Aaron Garner.   

Cleary scored two runs in the third inning.  In the bottom half, Tyler Wressel knocked a 2-RBI double to score Logan Hylek and Josh Burke.  Aaron West and Tyler Wressel later reached home on a throwing error.   

Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys pitched in the fourth and fifth innings with three strikeouts.  In the fourth, Logan Hylek hit into a fielder's choice allowing Kyle Hebner to make it home.   
Logan Morris pitched the sixth and seventh innings with three strikeouts.  CUAA secured the 9-4 victory.  

GAME 2 – CUAA 12, Cleary 2 (five innings)
Bryon Mane pitched a complete game in the nightcap, making four strikeouts.  Logan Hylek started things off in the first with a 2-RBI double scoring Drew Fleming and Josh Burke.   

Cleary scored a run in the second inning.  The Cardinals answered in the bottom half with a 2-RBI single from Logan Hylek and a 2-RBI double by Tyler Wressel

CUAA momentum continued into the third inning when Taishin Matsushita reached home on an error.  Josh Burke then crushed a 3-run homer to clear the bases.  Drew Fleming scored on a passed ball and Aaron West hit an RBI single scoring Aaron Garner.  

The game was called due to rain after five innings clinching the 12-2 win.  
 
Concordia will host Lawrence Tech this Friday, March 29th, for a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
