Dennison enters his second season as the Cardinal's pitching coach in the 2024 season.

In Dennison's first year, the Cardinal's pitching staff excelled posting the 14th-best ERA in the nation (4.15) as the staff was led by NCCAA and WHAC Pitcher of the Year Tyson Kleinfelter.

Steven Dennison arrives at Concordia following a four-year stint at Cedarville University as their pitching coach. In addition to his position at Cedarville, Dennison also headed multiple pitching staffs in different summer leagues including leading the Kelowna Falcons of the West Coast League to a Championship berth in 2018.

“I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity and am anxious to get to work with the Cardinals. The success they have had in the past along with Coach Johnston's love for the team and the game of baseball were key factors in my choice to come to Concordia Ann Arbor,” said Dennison. “I'm excited to see where we can go from here. A huge thank you to Coach Johnston and the rest of the coaching staff for entrusting me with this role. I'm going to do whatever I can to help this team.”

In 2017, Dennison coached the pitching staff at Linn Benton Community College. The team posted a 42-4 record, including a 30-game win streak, with a 1.76 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. Dennison also made stops at Alma College in 2016 and Colorado Christian University in 2015.

Dennison entered the collegiate coaching ranks in 2015 following a professional career within the Astros organization. He pitched for two seasons and struck out 16 batters over 18.1 innings and posted a 3.93 ERA.

Dennison was the third player from Wheaton College to ever be selected in the MLB draft as he was taken in the third round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Florida Marlins, he ultimately chose to return to school and finish his degree in elementary education. He is currently third in team history in strikeouts and finished with a career record of 17-11.

"We are incredibly excited about the addition of Steve Dennison to our coaching staff," said Johnston. "We are very thankful to have him and his wife Diana join our Cardinal Family!"

Johnston went on to say, "Steve's extreme work ethic on and off the field will benefit our team and our coaching staff in so many ways. Our guys will reap the benefits of that work ethic along with his attention to detail with development and film and his organization skills and creativity within his practice plans."

Coach Johnston further remarked, "During the entire interview process I was drawn to Steve's desire to learn and adapt as well as his Love/Serve/Care mentality (Love the Team, Serve the Players, Care about the Program). I will appreciate everything he is going to bring to our program and I know our players will too. He is without a doubt the right person to take our pitching staff to the next level."
