Cheer records program record score at Battle in the Big Easy

(New Orleans, LA) The Concordia Cheer Team went down south for the Battle in the Big Easy, hosted by Xavier University. The team competed in a dual against the reigning NAIA Champions, a group competition, and then a final dual at the event. Concordia posted a program record 96.70 in their final performance of the event, surpassing their previous best score dating back to NAIA Qualifying Round in 2019.

Xavier Dual – 92.60 – 2nd of 2 Teams

In a matchup between two former NAIA Champions, the Cardinals took on the hosting Xavier Gold Rush. Concordia posted a score of 92.60, their highest of the season. The mark ultimately came up short against the reigning champions as they were given a 98.60 for their routine.

Group Competition – Did not finish due to injury

The Cardinals scratched from the group competition as they had an injury during their performance.

Our Lady of the Lake Dual – 96.70 – 1st of 2 Teams

Concordia finished out the event with their best score in program history, as they were given a 96.70. The score was enough to top Our Lady of the Lake's 58.63 and Saint Francis (IN) who did not compete.

"Execution was at the forefront of our goals this weekend," said Head Coach Kate Edge. "We have had several reworks. This score was hard-worked for and hard won. Each time, we say we are proud, but this one hits different."

The Cardinals will next be in action as they look to defend their conference title at the WHAC Championships on Saturday, February 18th. The event is hosted by Rochester and will begin at noon.
