(Ypsilanti, MI) The Concordia Cheer team rounded out their season at the final day of the NAIA National Championships. The Cardinals came into Saturday in fourth place following the preliminary round, and added nearly three points to their final round performance, springing them into second place. Concordia finished the competition with a total score of 90.76, making them one of just two teams in the competition to finish with a 90+ point total.

Concordia recorded a 91.50 in their final performance, improving in nearly every category across the board. Particularly, the Cards went up by half a point in Partner/Group Stunts from Friday to Saturday's final run. The Cardinals also had less taken away from their subtotal in deductions in the final round.  

"I am beyond proud of this team," said Head Coach Kate Edge. "Their work ethic, grind and relentlessness got them to this achievement. I want to shout out our Head Assistant Coach Shanitra Cheff. She did the real heavy lifting this year with our Co-Ed team. She has really elevated them to a whole new level. This season the team really embraced our 'We Decide' motto and controlled their own destiny."

Saint Ambrose took home the title with a score of 95.51, followed by Concordia, and then Oklahoma City at 89.68.

The Cardinals served as the host of the championship in 2023 in partnership with the Ann Arbor Sports Commission at the EMU George Gervin GameAbove Center.
