Concordia Dance Team takes second in season opening competitions at Marian

(Indianapolis, IN) The Concordia Dance Team opened up their season with a pair of competitions at Marian University Saturday. The Cardinals took second in both comps, only coming up short against the hosting Knights.

In the first comp the Cardinals were just a hair short of 70 in their subtotal, only 0.2 points behind Marian. Ultimately, it was Concordia's four points of deductions compared to Marian's one that made the difference in the final tally. The Cards received high marks in team turns sequence, pom technique, and choreography, on their way to a final score of 65.90.

In the second comp Concordia recorded a score of 70.10, improving upon their subtotal from their first performance. Five points of deductions put the score down to 65.10, good enough for second place behind the Knights. Concordia improved their scores in jazz and hip hop technique as well as team leaps from the first competition to help improve their score before deductions.

"Starting the season with two competitions in one day is no small feat, and I'm proud of the team for persevering to accomplish a second-place finish in both," said Head Coach Beth Strom. "Moving forward, we will continue to work on cleaning up our technical skills and routine tricks to assist with our overall score."

Next up for Concordia will be their competition at the Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT). The competition will be held at Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, January 27th.
