Concordia Dance Team wins pair of competitions at Cumberlands

(Williamsburg, KY) The Concordia Dance Team travelled south for a pair of competitions hosted by University of the Cumberlands. The Cardinals squared off against Marian, Campbellsville, and Cumberlands ultimately winning the events with scores of 74.20 and 72.65. The scores raised their season average to 71.43.

 

Patriot Spirit Dance #1 – 74.20 – 1st of 3

CDT put on a commanding performance over the field in the first comp of the day as the Cardinals defeated the second place Cumberlands by over 4 points. Concordia was consistent across the board, not scoring lower than a 7 in all categories. Their highest marks came in the team turns sequence where both judges awarded them a score over an 8. CDT had a subtotal of 75.20, with a pair of minor falls in deductions bringing them down to 74.20, their third highest score of the season.

 

Patriot Spirit Dance #2 – 72.65 – 1st of 3

The second competition of the day was more closely contested, with all three squads scoring within three points of each other. CDT came out on top, defeating Marian by 0.40 points. Once again, their Team Turn Sequence continued to impress, with Team Leaps also bolstering their score. Concordia's subtotal was at 74.65, but four minor deductions brough it down to 72.65 in the end.

 

"We have been focused on very specific goals after our comp on Thursday," said CDT Head Coach Beth Strom. "We came in fired up, determined to fight, and pushed through to succeed. We can't wait to get back to work this week as we look forward to the WHAC Championship."

 

CDT will now enter the postseason portion of their schedule beginning with the WHAC Championship on Saturday, March 9th. Hosted at Siena Heights at 1:30 PM, the Cardinals are set to perform fifth.
