League of Legends comes up short in first two GLEC Playoff matches

(Columbus, OH) League of Legends traveled to the Game Arena in Columbus Ohio for their Great Lakes Esports Conference (GLEC) playoffs on Friday. The Cardinals fell in their first of three matches, and will square off against Bethel this week.

The team suffered a pretty quick loss in game 1 of their first match against Manchester. In game 2, the Cardinals came out strong and seemed to be in control, but a couple costly mistakes through the mid game swung the momentum back in Manchester's favor which ended up sealing the best-of-3 series by a score of 2-0.

In their second match of the night, the Cardinals went against a solid Valparaiso team. The Cardinals had some good structure in place with their team comp and plan, but they failed to execute on a few key moments which cost them the first match. In the second one, they flipped roles around with Jad Haidar-Ahmad returning to his famous jungler role while Thomas Fill went to the bottom lane as ADC, and Caleb Gard went to mid lane. Despite this change-up, the Cardinals couldn't string everything together and took another 2-0 loss in playoffs.

Due to the schedule for the playoffs being so delayed at the venue, the third game which determined 7th/8th place will be played online against Bethel at a currently undetermined time over the next week. The Cardinals will stream that game at twitch.tv/cuaa_esports
