Maynard picks up MSFA and NCCAA weekly awards

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Mid-States Football Association Mid-East (MSFA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon and Senior Hunter Maynard was named the MSFA Mideast Defensive Player of the week and the NCCAA Football Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week.

Maynard led the tough Cardinals defense over the past week with nine total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, and one interception. Maynard and the defense held tough against one of the top rushing defenses in the NAIA as they held the Wildcats to a season-low 86 yards rushing. Maynard's interception led to a third-quarter touchdown.

Maynard joins Andrew Foerster, Gavin Brooks, Gabe Whitmore as the Cardinals to receive MSFA recognition this season. He also joins Casey Rauch, Gavin Brooks and Aaron Rahn on the NCCAA side of the honors.

Maynard and the Cardinals will be back in action on Saturday, October 9 for homecoming as Concordia will play host to the rival Saints of Siena Heights University with kickoff beginning at 1 PM.
