WEEK 6 GAME NOTES: FOOTBALL RETURNS HOME FOR TOP-10 CLASH WITH MARIAN

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia football is preparing for a key game that will draw national attention when they host #5 Marian this Saturday. The Cardinals jumped to #10 nationally after a 24-10 win over Lawrence Tech kept them undefeated. The Knights also enter the contest 5-0 after blanking Madonna last week.

Marian enters the contest a perfect 5-0 and ranked #5 in the NAIA. The Knights come in averaging 39.6 PPG and defensively hold opponents to just 11.6 PPG. Their lone win against a ranked opponent was a 28-21 win against current #13 Saint Xavier. Ted Karras Jr. enters his 8th year as head coach, returning this season after leading the program from 2016-2012.

 

NAIA Coaches Poll

Concordia moved up 3 spots to #10 in the latest edition of the NAIA Coaches Poll. Indiana Wesleyan and Marian held at #4 and #5 respectively. In the MSFA Midwest, Saint Xavier climbed two spots to #13. Saint Francis (IL) fell out of the top 25 but is still receiving votes.

 

Player of the Week Honors

Casey Rauch was named MSFA and NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week. The senior linebacker had 9 total tackles in the team's 24-10 win over Lawrence Tech. Rauch also forced two fumbles in the match, recovering one.

Dejai Robinson earned MSFA Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The freshman kicker converted a 40-yard field goal in the contest and added 3 PATs as well. Robinson also made 5 kickoffs with an average of 53.8 yards per kick.
