Men's Basketball falls to Trinity International 85-77

(Winona, IN) The Concordia University men's basketball team competed for their second game in a row at the Grace Tip-off Classic as they went up against Trinity International. The Cardinals came in at 1-1 overall and the Trojans came in with a 1-0 record after a win against University of Northwestern Ohio last night.

Devyn Jones got the scoring started for the Cardinals with a layup off of a Zackary Johnson pass for the early 2-0 lead. Throughout the next four minutes the teams would trade off possessions without any scoring. The Trojans would nab their first basket at the 15:29 mark.

Going through the first half both teams would then trade baskets as they were trying to take a firm lead in the game as neither team could take more than a four point lead. Matt Lockhart and Thomas Hironis would record back to back baskets. The final minute of the first half would see Kip French record four points off free throws.

Colton Ritsema and Bernard Kasanda would score right away for the Cards to make it a one-point game. At both the 13:46 and the 4:50 mark, Matt Lockhart would tie the game up both times the first time at 52 and the second 67. Bernard Kasanda would tally the first Cardinal lead in a long time with his basket. A 10-0 Trojan run brought the Cardinals down eight with 2:30 remaining. The Trojans free throws would be able to ice the game away for the win.

The Cards will be back in action on Tuesday, November 1 as they take on Adrian College at home with a 7pm tipoff.
