(Lima, OH) – Concordia men's basketball went on the road to face UNOH on Monday night in WHAC conference play. The Cardinals entered the game 7-10 overall (2-8 WHAC) while the Racers came in 7-11 (4-5 WHAC). CUAA kept the match close early on and continued to compete throughout the game, but UNOH earned a 78-63 win.
Matt Lockhart led the team with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Jayden Priddy finished with 14 points. Evan Neff and Zac Clark tied for third with 9 points apiece.
Matt Lockhart ended a 5-0 UNOH run with a layup. Jayden Priddy caught a pass in midair and scored and Lockhart added another basket. Priddy beat the shot clock and rattled in a jumper to cut the deficit to 11-8. The Cardinals took a 14-13 lead after a 6-0 run, getting a floater from Zac Clark and a stepback jumper from Matt Lockhart.
UNOH answered with a 9-0 run but D'Angelo Stoxstill countered with a jumper. Stoxstill added another layup and Colton Ritsema got on the board with a jumpshot. Ritsema and Matt Lockhart combined on a 6-0 run late in the half, but UNOH closed the half with 11 straight points for a 42-30 lead.
Jayden Priddy drained two free throws for the first second-half Concordia points. Matt Lockhart knocked down a jumper and Priddy hit a 3-pointer as the Cardinals looked to stay in the game. Zac Clark scored inside and Jayden Priddy added another triple.
UNOH took their largest lead with a 23-point advantage, but Kip French started a late push with a 3-pointer. Matt Lockhart weaved through the defense for a driving layup and Evan Neff drained three late triples. The Cardinals got within 14 points at the 3:22 mark, but UNOH eventually claimed the 78-63 win.
Concordia will return home on Wednesday, January 19 when they host Lawrence Tech at 8pm.
