Men's Basketball falls to Lourdes

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's basketball played host to Lourdes on Wednesday night for a WHAC conference game.  The Cardinals entered looking to battle for the eighth and final playoff spot in the WHAC.  CUAA kept the contest close in the first half, but Lourdes eventually pulled away to win 69-41.

Matt Kohler led Concordia with 8 points.  Matt Lockhart had a team-high 8 rebounds.

 

Colton Ritsema opened the scoring with a basket inside.  Matt Lockhart added a 3-pointer and Ritsema scored again in the paint.  Devyn Jones and D'Angelo Stoxstill got on the scoresheet as the Cardinals maintained an early lead.  After briefly falling behind Kip French made a layup over his defender for a 15-14 lead.

Lourdes went on an 11-0 run until Matt Kohler stopped it with a triple.  Kip French added a late layup but CUAA trailed 32-20 at halftime.

 

Zac Clark had Concordia's first basket of the second half with a layup.  Matt Kohler had a layup and a 3-pointer, but the Cardinals struggled offensively while Lourdes continued to score. 

D'Angelo Stoxstill, Nate Brighton, and Evan Neff all contributed to the offense down the stretch.  Henry Knapp chipped in a pair of free throws as well, but CUAA fell 69-41 as time expired.

 

Concordia will head on the road this Saturday, February 12 to face Rochester at 3pm.
