Mens Basketball drops their game against Cornerstone
(Grand Rapids, MI) - Concordia men's basketball headed to Cornerstone on Saturday afternoon in WHAC play.  The Cardinals kept fighting throughout the game, but the Golden Eagles pulled ahead and won 89-58. 
Devyn Jones and Matt Kohler tied for the team high with 14 points apiece.  Jason Jergens had the second-highest total with 9 points and a team-best 4 rebounds. 
 
Nate Brighton gave the Cardinals an early 3-2 lead with a triple.  Dylan Jergens and Devyn Jones drove for early layups with Jergens adding free throws.  Matt Kohler converted inside and Joey Garwood hit a triple, but CUAA trailed 25-14 at the midway point of the half. 
Devyn Jones caught fire with the team's next 10 points, draining two 3-pointers and making a pair of baskets.  Jason Jergens knocked down a triple and Devyn Jones scored inside.  However, Cornerstone continued to make their baskets and led 46-29 at halftime. 
 
Joey Garwood ended a 9-0 Cornerstone run with a 3-pointer.  Matt Kohler drained two triples and Jason Jergens added one as the Cardinals looked to stay in the game.  CUAA trailed 66-41 at the midway point of the second half. 
Austin Poe hit a jumpshot and Matt Kohler drained two free throws and knocked down two jumpshots down the stretch.  Mason Canfield got in the game a nailed a 3-pointer while Jack McLeod chipped in a pair of free throws for the team.  However, CUAA could not mount a comeback and fell 89-58 as time expired. 
 
Concordia will travel to UM-Dearborn this Wednesday at 7:30pm.
