Men’s Basketball earns 77-57 win at UM-Dearborn
(Dearborn, MI) – Concordia men's basketball headed to UM-Dearborn on Wednesday night for a WHAC contest.  The Cardinals played a solid all-around game and brought home a 77-57 win. 
Joey Garwood led all scorers with 22 points.  Zavion McClendon was a close second with 20 points.  Nate Brighton was also in double figures with 13 points.  Devyn Jones and Zavion McClendon tied for a team-best 7 rebounds. 
 
Zavion McClendon made two free throws to open scoring.  McClendon added an "and-1" and Joey Garwood nailed a triple to extend the lead.  The duo continued to pace the offense with McClendon draining free throws and Garwood hitting three triples.  CUAA led 21-13 at the midway point of the half. 
Nate Brighton knocked down a jumpshot and Devyn Jones made free throws as the Cardinals pushed their lead to double digits.  Zavion McClendon, Nate Brighton and Jason Jergens all drained 3-pointers as the Concordia offense exploded.  The team continued to get balanced offense with a Jason Jergens triple putting CUAA ahead 45-26 at halftime. 
 
Zavion McClendon made a jumpshot and a layup to start the second half.  Joey Garwood and Nate Brighton knocked down 3-pointers to continue the onslaught.  Dylan Jergens slipped a no-look pass to Mark Devries for a reverse layup.  Free throws from Devyn Jones put CUAA ahead 61-42 at the midway point. 
Zavion McClendon and Nate Brighton added free throws and Joey Garwood made yet another triple.  Brighton hit a 3-pointer as well while Dylan Jergens scored a fast-break layup.  Down the stretch, Mason Canfield made a free throw and Austin Poe came up with a steal and a basket.  CUAA claimed the 77-57 win as time expired. 
 
Concordia will travel to Cleary this Saturday at 7:30pm.
