Men's Basketball downed at Indiana Tech 76-62

(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia men's basketball went on the road to Indiana Tech on Wednesday night for a WHAC game. The Cardinals surged to a double-digit lead in the first half, but the Warriors mounted a comeback and came away with a 76-62 win.

Joey Garwood led the team with 17 points. Devyn Jones finished a close second with 16 points and a team-high 5 rebounds. Dylan Jergens was also in double figures with 12 points.

 

Zavion McClendon drove for a layup for Concordia's first basket. McClendon and Dylan Jergens added jumpers as the teams traded points early. Joey Garwood had a 3-pointer and a jumpshot and Mason Canfield tied the game with free throws. Devyn Jones hit a go-ahead jumper and Garwood finished the 9-0 run with a triple. CUAA held a 21-18 lead at the midway point.

Zavion McClendon nailed a 3-pointer and Dylan Jergens converted a layup. Devyn Jones pushed the lead to double digits with a jumpshot and a triple. Dylan Jergens and Jones knocked down shots from behind the arc with Jergens adding a late layup. CUAA held a 40-31 advantage at halftime.

 

Indiana Tech started the second half on a 9-0 run to tie the game. Devyn Jones hit a go-ahead triple and Colby Chapman made free throws to tie the game 45-45. Joey Garwood and Jones scored inside, but Indiana Tech began to rally and led 61-49 with 8:17 to play.

Joey Garwood drained free throws and Nate Brighton made a triple as the Cardinals looked to rally. Zavion McClendon made free throws, Dylan Jergens scored, and a Joey Garwood triple cut the deficit to single digits with the team down 70-61. However, Indiana Tech held on to secure the 76-62 win.

 

Concordia will return home to host Aquinas this Saturday at 3pm.
