Men's Bowling advances to Bracket Play, but falls to Wichita State at the Glenn Carlson Invitational

(Las Vegas, NV) - The Concordia Cardinals headed west to compete at the Glenn Carlson Invitational at the South Pointe Hotel & Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event featured nine team games with the top 16 teams advancing to the Baker Match Play tournament. 

 

The first day of the tournament featured the Cardinals bowling the first six team games. The team finished in 11th place with three more team games left to play. The team hit a total of 5,749 pins.

 

The Cardinals finished up their final three team games in 14th place, which would advance them to the bracket play with a total of 8,459 pins. 

 

In bracket play the Cardinals would be matched up with the eventual tournament champion, Wichita State, as they would fall 3.5 to .5.

 

CARDINALS RESULTS

The top spot for the Cardinals was held by Connor Rogus with a 22nd-place finish in the tournament. Rogus totaled 1,776 pins as he scored a high game of 235. Next up was Jeffrey Lizewski who finished the tournament averaging 186 over eight games bowled, he bowled a high game of 227. Dylan Jablonski was another Cardinal bowler who would bowl in eight games as he averaged 183 per game and recorded a high game of 237. 

 

David Schaberg would bowl in seven games for the Cardinals as he would average 189.7 over those games and score a high game of 225. Alexander Bumpus would bowl the next highest score for CUAA with an 189.4 average over four games and recording a 240-high game. 

 

The final three bowlers were Spencer Mosher, Kenji London, and Patrick Good Jr. respectively. Mosher would bowl in four games as he averaged 190.3 and scored a high game of 212, London bowled two games and averaged 180 with a high game of 190, while Good Jr. averaged 167.5 over his two games scoring a 187 high game. 

 

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL WINNER

Wichita State earned the championship after beating CUAA, St. Francis (IL), Calumet, and Webber International for the title. 

 

The individual champion came from Savannah College of Art and Design (GA) as Julian Salinas totaled 2,032 total pins for the tournament. 

 

UP NEXT

The Cardinals will next compete at the Collegiate Shootout over the next two days as they will remain in Las Vegas.
