Men's Lacrosse dominates Alma 29-3 in home opener

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse hosted Alma on Wednesday afternoon for the team's home opener. The Cardinals came out with an explosive offense and downed the Scots 29-3 to pick up a victory. The win was the Cardinals' largest margin of victory and most points scored in program history. 

 

Sam Bowling played the first half in net, making one save. Evan Stuart opened scoring just over a minute into the game with Travis Wright drawing the assist. Spencer Guppy, Travis Wright, and Ivan Progar added unassisted markers to build up the lead. Ross Preston found the back of the net with Spencer Guppy giving the helper. Andrew Simmons and Ryan Davis each notched a pair of goals for a 9-0 CUAA lead after the first quarter.

Ivan Progar and Spencer Guppy scored their second goals to open the second quarter. Ryan Davis finished off his hat trick and Evan Stuart also recorded his second marker. Andrew Simmons had two markers to reach 4 goals on the day and Travis Wright scored off a helper from Simmons with 5 seconds left. CUAA led 16-0 at halftime.

 

Conor Kinsey came in to play goalie in the second half, notching two saves. Luke Beilhartz continued the offensive onslaught with Spencer Guppy assisting. Ryan Davis and Travis Wright finished their hat tricks and Aldo Meija-Hans got on the board. CUAA led 21-2 after the third quarter.

Ryan Davis had his fifth goal to open the fourth quarter. Gavin Scally juked a defender and scored on a quick shot. Jackson Brookes recorded a powerplay goal and Cross Papadelis converted as well. Luke Beilhartz completed his hat trick and Brookes notched his second goal. Jack Foster finished the offensive explosion to secure the 29-3 win.

 

Concordia will travel to #1 Keiser on March 1 at 4:00pm.
