Men's Lacrosse sets new program record with 34-1 rout of Midland

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia men's lacrosse hosted Midland on Wednesday afternoon to continue their season. The Cardinals' offense was explosive in a 34-1 victory which saw the team outshoot Midland 78-11. The contest set new CUAA program records for goals in a game and margin of victory.

 

Sam Bowling played the first 3 quarters in net with 5 saves. Ross Preston opened scoring just over 3 minutes into the game. Jackson Brookes tallied just 26 seconds later. Cooper Regimbal and Hunter McCarty added unassisted goals and Aldo Mejia-Hans scored off an assist from Jackson Brookes. Travis Wright found the back of the net and Cooper Regimbal notched his second marker. CUAA led 7-0 after the first quarter.

Hunter McCarty recorded his second goal in the first minute of the second quarter. Andrew Simmons, Zachary Dixon, and Jack Foster all got on the scoresheet with McCarty assisting 2 of the goals. Travis Wright notched his second goal and both Hunter McCarty and Cooper Regimbal finished off hat tricks. Jackson Brookes then scored off of a Ryan Davis helper. Hunter McCarty picked up his fourth goal and Noah Sorenson closed out a dominant first half with a marker. CUAA led 17-0 at halftime.

 

Hunter McCarty continued his standout day with his fifth goal assisted by Noah Sorenson. Andrew Simmons notched his second marker and Gavin Scally found the back of the net. Cooper Regimbal reached 4 goals on the day and Luke Beilhartz tallied twice in a row. Hunter McCarty recorded his sixth goal and Andrew Simmons picked up a hat trick. Ryan Davis and Cooper Regimbal closed out the third quarter with goals to put CUAA up 27-0.

Conor Kinsey played goalie in the fourth quarter, making one save. Cross Papadelis started scoring in the quarter with a marker. Aldo Mejia-Hans went on to complete a hat trick and Ryan Davis scored his second goal. The Cardinals continued to be on fire with a powerplay goal from Jack Foster. Midland did break the shutout with one goal, but Gavin Scally answered with his second marker of the day. Ryan Davis finished his hat trick to cap the record-setting 34-1 victory by the Cardinals.

 

Concordia will begin WHAC play when they host #8 Indiana Tech on March 23 at 3pm.
