Men's Soccer falls on the road at Indiana Wesleyan

(Marion, IN) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday evening for a non-conference soccer matchup.  The Cardinals entered the contest 2-0 overall while the Wildcats came in 2-2.  CUAA battled hard, forcing a scoreless first half, but Indiana Wesleyan pulled away for a 2-0 win.

 

 

Ryan Webb started in goal for Concordia, making 2 saves.   Austin Corona recorded the first shot on goal for the Cardinals as the team attacked in the first several minutes.  Concordia had multiple free kick opportunities, but they also had to weather a strong early attack from Indiana Wesleyan.   Ryan Webb remained sharp with a critical save at point-blank range in the 43rd minute.  The score remained 0-0 at halftime.

 

Kyri Wixom came in to play goalie in the 2nd half, notching 3 saves.  Wixom made an early save in the 52nd minute, touching a ball over the net.  Bryce Schaner took the Cardinals' first shot in the second half, but the Wildcats broke the shutout with a goal in the 67th minute.

 

Indiana Wesleyan added a second goal in the 76th minute to go ahead 2-0.  While the Cardinals generated several chances in the final minute, the Wildcats claimed the win as time expired.

 

 

Concordia will play their next game on Friday, September 10 at Ohio Northern.  The game is set to begin at 4pm.
