Men's Soccer drops WHAC opener to Rochester

(Washington, MI) – Concordia men's soccer began WHAC conference play against Rochester at the Michigan Stars Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.  The Cardinals came in 2-5 overall while the Warriors entered 3-2.  CUAA had a solid offensive game with 3 goals, but the team fell by a final score of 6-3.

 

Ryan Webb started in goal for Concordia, making 2 saves.  Rochester started out strong on offense, scoring 4 unanswered goals in the first half.  The Cardinals began to find life starting in the 42nd minute when Carl Pierce scored off an assist from Alexander Valencia.  Just over 2 minutes later Luca Ruffino found the back of the net with Tanguy Flachez drawing the helper.  CUAA trailed 4-2 at halftime.

Matthew Pearson started the second half out with a header on net.  Rochester countered with two more goals, but the Cardinals converted in the 86th minute when Tanguy Flachez added an unassisted goal.  However, Rochester claimed the 6-3 win.

 

Concordia will return to action on Wednesday, September 29 when they host rival Madonna at 1pm.
