Men's Soccer picks up 3-2 win at Ohio Christian

(Circleville, OH) Concordia Men's Soccer returned to the pitch Wednesday afternoon for a nonconference match at Ohio Christian University. Both teams came into the matchup looking for their first win of the season, and it was the Cardinals that came away with the 3-2 win over the Trailblazers.

Concordia's Kyri Wixom and Ryan Webb shared time in front of the net throughout the game as Wixom stopped two shots in the first half and Webb saved six in the second.

Alexander Valencia drew first blood with a penalty kick goal late in the first half. Nicholas Corona added on to the lead with a goal just three minutes into the second half. Then it was Nicholas Kiafoulis netting another Concordia penalty kick in what would be the eventual game winner and the freshman's first goal as a Cardinal.

The Trailblazers scored a pair of goals both within ten minutes of Kiafoulis's goal to draw within one. An Ohio Christian red card forced them to play down a man for the final twelve minutes of the game. The Trailblazers had one final chance with a late corner kick, but it was thwarted by the Cardinal defense as time expired.

The Cardinals will next be in action on Saturday, September 24th when they enter conference play against Aquinas. Kickoff is set for 3:30 at Cardinal Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
