Men's Soccer drops game to Defiance on Wednesday afternoon

(Defiance, OH) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to Defiance for a Wednesday afternoon contest. The Cardinals kept pace with the Hornets and netted two goals, but Defiance came away with a 4-2 win.

Kyri Wixom played a complete game in net, making 4 saves. The Cardinals struck quickly with Bryce Schaner finding the back of the net off an assist by Nicholas Kiafoulis in the 2nd minute. Defiance tied the game with a goal in the 12th minute. Both teams traded chances with Ignacio Lopez taking a shot on goal and Evan Lock directing a header on net. The game was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Defiance took the lead in the 53rd minute and added another marker in the 58th minute. The Cardinals responded just 26 seconds later when Marcello Pinterpe sent a high cross in front of the net and Carter Kerbawy tapped the ball in for a goal.

Defiance added another score to regain a 2-goal lead. The Cardinals continued to attack the net and make rushes on offense, but the Hornets took the 4-2 win as time expired.

Concordia will return home next Tuesday, September 19 to host Kalamazoo College at 5pm.
