Men's Soccer downed on the road at Aquinas

(Grand Rapids, MI) – Concordia men's soccer headed to Aquinas on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC matchup. The Cardinals battled hard with many key offensive chances, but the team fell 3-0 at the final horn.

 

Kyri Wixom played a complete game in goal, making 6 saves. Both teams traded early chances with Jan Lloveras Freix taking the Cardinals' first shot on net. Kyri Wixom stayed sharp in goal, but Aquinas recorded two goals just 26 seconds apart in the 29th minute to open scoring. Marcello Pinterpe and Carter Kerbawy countered with shots on goal for Concordia, but the team trailed 2-0 at halftime.

Concordia kept fighting in the second half, outshooting Aquinas 10-8 in the frame. The Cardinals attacked the net early in the half with several shot attempts and corner kick opportunities. However, Aquinas was able to add to their lead in the 89th minute and hold on to claim the win.

 

Concordia will stay on the road and face Indiana Tech next Wednesday at 7pm.
