Men's soccer comes up short in season finale against Cornerstone

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Men's Soccer concluded their season with a WHAC match against Cornerstone Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals suffered a pair of goals late in the first half, and were unable to overcome the deficit, falling 2-0 to the Golden Eagles.

Concordia started out on the front foot, putting pressure on the Golden Eagles back line. It was Cornerstone who was finally able to break through scoring on a Concordia own goal with 8 minutes left in the half. With under a minute remaining in the half, Cornerstone tacked on another goal off of long pass, brought down by Steven Stidham, which Tyler Corstange put past Kyri Wixom.

Dario Cela played the majority of the second half in goal for Concordia. Cela, combined with Jose Garcia, who played the final 9 minutes, kept the Golden Eagles at bay, not allowing a goal between the two. The Cardinals attack was also unable to find the back of the net, resulting in a 2-0 final.

The match concluded the 2023 campaign for the Cardinals.
