Men's Track and Field see's four qualify for NCCAA Championships as they open their season at the Oiler Open

(Findlay, OH) - Cardinals Men's Track & Field kicked off the indoor season at the Oiler Opener & Multi hosted by the University of Findlay. With only seven Concordia competitors, there were four qualifications for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Championships. Senior Noah Starkey (Macomb, MI) ran personal bests in both of his events, running 7.10 in the 60m dash finals and 22.85 in the 200m for a 3rd place finish. Freshman Nikao Williams (New Haven, MI) competed in the same events, running 7.32 in the 60m dash and 23.98 in the 200m. Fellow freshman Dillan Johns (Madison Heights, MI) competed alongside Starkey and Williams in the 200m in a time of 24.37. Johns also ran the 400m sprint, running 55.23.

 

In the field events, the throws saw two NCCAA qualifications between freshmen duo Jesse Lietzow (St. Clair Shores, MI) and Ryan Reynolds (Northville, MI). Lietzow launched the shot put 13.82m for an NCCAA qualification and also threw 10.52m in the weight throw. Reynolds threw 11.65m in the shot put and had a big toss of 13.12m in the weight throw for his NCCAA qualification. Junior Scott Smith (Saginaw, MI) competed in both the shot put and weight throw with marks of 11.04m and 11.89m, respectively.  Smith's weight throw was a personal best mark. Rounding out the squad was freshman Garard Noel (Canton, MI), throwing 7.28m in the weight throw.

 

The team will go on hiatus for winter break and resume competition on Friday, January 12 at Saginaw Valley State University for the SVSU Classic. Keep up with the Cardinals by following the team on social media - CUAAXCTF.
