Men's Indoor Track and Field season resumed at SVSU Classic on Friday

(Saginaw, MI) - The Men's Track and Field team resumed their season at Saginaw Valley State University for the SVSU Classic on Friday, January 12. The team came away with 13 personal records, 3 NCCAA qualifiers, and 7 new collegiate marks.

The team had NCCAA qualifiers by Scott Smith (Junior; Saginaw, MI) in weight throw with a distance of 13.27 meters and a 12th-place finish. Jacob Ramirez (Freshman; Irvine, CA) earned the win in the triple jump with a jump of 12.72 meters and earned an NCCAA qualifying mark in his debut. Another NCCAA ticket was punched in the 60-meter dash, as Franklin Swanson (Freshman; Canton, MI) with a time of 7.19 seconds in his debut.

The team had another 12 personal records throughout multiple events. Maurice Kado (Junior; Beachwood, OH) and Nikao Williams (Freshman; New Haven, MI) each ran two personal records on the day. They both competed in the 60- and 200-meter dash. Kado finished in 7.35 seconds in the 60 and 24.51 in the 200. Williams finished in 23.63 in the 200 and 7.24 in the 60-meter dash. Zak Schroeder (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH) finished in 9th place with a time of 54.42 and a new personal record.

For the distance events, Theodore Eising (Senior; Royal Oak, MI) and Luke Bentz (Junior; Fort Wayne, IN) lead the way. Bentz earned a new personal record with a time of 4:42 in the Mile. Eising earned personal records in both the Mile and the 800. Eising finished in 4:53 for the mile and 2:10 in the 800. Jared Stiver (Senior; Tecumseh, MI) finished in 2:31 in the 800 for personal record as well.

In throwing events, Jesse Lietzow (Freshman; St.Clair Shores, MI)  and Gerard Noel (Freshman; Canton, MI) both earned personal records with throws of 10.52 and 8.65 meters. Noel also earned a personal record in shot put as well, with a throw of 9.99 meters.  

The team had a few others made their collegiate debut as well. As Swanson made his debut in the 200 and finished in 23.27. Dylan Anderson (Freshman; Ottawa Lake, MI) made his debut in both the 200 and 400, with finishing times of 24.76 and 55.25 seconds. Dominic Catallo (Freshman; Westland, MI) made his debut in both the Mile and the 800-meter dash. Catallo finished in 4:55 for the Mile and 2:13 in the 800.

The team will be back in action on Friday, January 19 at the Doug Hansen Open hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
