Bauer hits NCCAA qualifying mark as Men's Track and Field competes at the Mrs. G Invitational

(Angola, IN) - The men's track and field team continued on with their indoor season on Friday, February 2 at Trine University for the Mrs. G's Alumni Invitational. The Cardinals came away with 7 personal records, 1 NCCAA qualifying mark and 2 event wins.

The team saw success from a number of athletes through out the day, led by Freshman Thomas Haynie who earned two different personal records. Haynie earned a personal record in Long Jump with a jump of 5.32 meters. He followed that up with a High Jump personal record by clearing a height of 1.75 meters.

The team had two event wins as well. As Jacob Ramirez (Freshmen; Irvine, California) won the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.50 meters. Then to cap off the meet, the 4x400 meter relay team of Zak Schroeder (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH), Nikao Williams (Freshman; New Haven, MI), Dylan Anderson (Freshmen; Ottawa Lake, MI) and Noah Starkey (Senior; Macomb, MI) won the event. The team finished with a total time of 3:37.13.

Micah Bauer (Freshman; Traverse City, MI) made his debut in the 3k and earned an NCCAA qualifying mark with a finishing time of 9:10 and now sits second all time in school history. Also making their collegiate debut was Williams and Elijah Boye (Sophomore; Westland, MI) in the 400-meter dash. Williams led the way with a time of 55.54 seconds, followed by Boye in 55.87 seconds.

Boye was also one of the athletes that earned a personal record on the day. He earned a personal record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 9.68 seconds. Also earning personal records were Gerard Noel (Freshman; Canton, MI), Franklin Swanson (Freshman; Canton, MI), Dominic Catallo (Freshman; Westland, MI) and Jared Stiver (Senior; Tecumseh, MI). Noel earned his personal record in weight throw with a distance of 10.15 meters. While, Catallo and Stiver earned a personal record in the 800-meter run with times of 2:10 and 2:28. Swanson earned a personal record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.03 seconds.

The team will head to Cedarville, Ohio for the National Christian College Athletic Association Indoor National Championships on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10 for qualifying athletes. The whole team will be back together to finish out the indoor season with WHAC Championships at Aquinas College on February 16 and 17.
