Men's Track & Field in 6th after Day 1 at WHAC Championships

(Grand Rapids, MI) - The Men's Track and Field team opened day one of the WHAC Championships with one school record and five personal records. The team picked up nine points on the day and currently sits in sixth place. The Cardinals sit 17 points behind Siena Heights and 3 points ahead of Lawrence Tech.

The men's 4x800 relay team of Zak Schroeder (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH), Theodore Eising (Senior; Troy, MI), Dominic Catallo (Freshman; Westland, MI), and Luke Bentz (Junior; Fort Wayne, IN) finished in fifth place with a time of 8:29. The team earned the first four points of the day.

The momentum continued as Franklin Swanson (Freshman; Canton, MI) tied his personal best in the 60-meter dash to a spot in the finals tomorrow. Both Nikao Williams (Freshman; New Haven, MI) and Maurice Kado (Junior; Beachwood, OH) also ran personal best in the race. Williams finished in 7.22 and Kado in 7.25 seconds.

Freshman Micah Bauer (Traverse City, MI) fought hard to rebreak his school record and earn the team five points with a fourth-place finish in the 5k. Bauer improved his record by 12 seconds and finished in a time of 15:16.

In throwing events, Gerard Noel (Freshman; Canton, MI) threw a personal best distance with a measurement of 10.56 meters.

The team will return to Aquinas College for Day 2 of the WHAC Championships.
