Cardinal Cross Country kicks off competition

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Cross Country teams are set to begin their second season under the direction of head coach, Allison Unger. The Cardinals will kick off their 2021 season this upcoming Saturday when they host the Concordia Invite. The women's 5K is scheduled to start at 10:00 AM followed the men's 5K at 11:00 AM.

 

The Women's Cross Country team finished off their last season with a 6th place finish at the WHAC Championship. The Cardinals are returning six runners from last season including Megan Espinoza, Anna Glomski, Gabriela Porter, Lydia Schroeder, Lindsey Travis, and Elizabeth Trent. Porter is currently fourth all time in the program record books with a 19.14.7 personal record on the 5K. Chloe Gunter will be joining the program as their lone freshman this season.

 

On the men's side of things, the Cards finished 9th in last year's WHAC Championship. Michael Brannan, Adam DiMaggio, Theodore Eising, Avery Sanchez, and Noah Starkey are returning for the Cardinals and will be joined freshmen Luke Bentz and Noah Finley. Sanchez had the fastest time among the team last year with a 30:20.1 8K time.

 

Following the Concordia Invite, the Cardinals will race in the Ray Bullock Invite at Taylor University on Friday, September 17th.
