Softball takes two from Indiana Tech on the road
(Fort Wayne, IN) - Concordia softball traveled to Indiana Tech on Thursday afternoon to continue their WHAC schedule.  The Cardinals earned a 7-1 win in the first contest and took game two 9-0 via the mercy rule.  
 
GAME 1 – CUAA 7, IT 1 (seven innings) 
Paige Anderson pitched a complete game with 3 strikeouts.  Neither team scored until the fifth inning when Bella Lee reached home on an Indiana Tech error.  

In the sixth inning, Faith Cramton hit an RBI single to score Shannon McAlinden.  Indiana Tech broke the shutout with a run in the bottom half.   

The Cardinals extended their lead with 5 runs in the seventh inning starting with a 2-RBI single from Cassidy Kane.  Katie Tobias hit an RBI single to drive in Emmi Liptow and Faith Cramton tacked on a 2-RBI double.  CUAA took the 7-1 victory in game one. 
 
GAME 2 – CUAA 9, IT 0 (five innings) 
Emilee Underwood pitched a full game in the second contest with 5 strikeouts.  The Cardinal offense started scoring in the first inning when Shannon McAlinden hit an RBI single scoring Payton Lewis.  Faith Cramton drew a bases-loaded walk and Maddy Grueter hit into a fielder's choice which allowed Katie Tobias and Shannon McAlinden to score. 

In the second inning, Cassidy Kane used an RBI single to drive in Sarah Tyrrell.  In the third inning, Maddy Grueter hit an RBI single to score Katie Tobias.  Bella Lee added a 2-RBI double that scored Grueter and Brooklin Cox.   

Faith Cramton extended the lead in the fourth inning with an RBI double driving in Katie Tobias.  Emilee Underwood finished the game giving up just 2 hits and the Cardinals claimed a 9-0 mercy rule win. 
 
Concordia will return home to host rival #16 Madonna University this Sunday for a doubleheader starting at 1pm.
