Softball drops a pair of games against Madonna

(Livonia, MI) - Due to weather and field conditions, Concordia softball moved their home doubleheader to Madonna University on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals fell 5-1 in the first contest and dropped game two 8-0.

 

GAME 1 – MU 5, CUAA 1 (seven innings)

Paige Anderson pitched a complete game with 5 strikeouts. Madonna scored 3 runs in the first inning to take an early lead.

 

The Cardinals got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Payton Lewis used a sacrifice fly to score Jada Stephenson.

 

The Crusaders added 2 more runs in the fifth inning. The Cardinals were unable to mount a comeback and fell 5-1.

 

GAME 2 – MU 8, CUAA 0 (six innings)

Emilee Underwood started game two on the mound, making 3 strikeouts in five innings. Madonna opened scoring with 3 runs in the third inning.

 

The Crusaders added a 2-run homer in the fifth inning. Cassidy Kane and Hannah Duchene combined to pitch the sixth inning. Madonna added 3 more runs to take an 8-0 lead.

 

Megan Martin led the offense with 2 hits on the day. However, Madonna was able to take game two in six innings based on the mercy rule.

 

 

Concordia softball will compete in the WHAC tournament which begins May 1st at Pacesetter Park in Sylvania, Ohio.
