STUNT wraps up season with two wins at home

 

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Cardinals wrapped up their 2023 season with a double win and a final 7th place national ranking for the NAIA Division of STUNT.

 

In match one, verse Tiffin University, the Cardinals dominated the meet with a 19-4 win. A highlight of the contest for CUAA was competing an executing Quarter 4 Routine 4.

"This was the most elite routine for our program to put out. We had been working on elements and competing sections of the quarter, but being able to perform the full 4th quarter with pyramids & tosses was a personal win for every athlete," says Head Coach Kate Edge

The Power Players for this match were #7 Savana Ruffner (19) #11 Zoe Genette (18). Power Players are based on a system that calculates points for each athlete based on routines they compete in, the points earned for those routines, the level of the routines in which they are in, etc.

The Cards tied their record for highest scoring game of the season. As a result, individual players hit the mark for Star Players, these are the top-ranking athletes in specific quarter skills sets. Four Cardinals earned Star Player in the Partner Stunts category, #2 Reegan Potter, #10 Kimberly Fox, #19 Elissa Peterson, and #21 Paige Martin.

 

The second head to head game of the day was verse fellow WHAC and NAIA STUNT Mid-American conference team, Aquinas College. While the Saints held the score close, the Cardinals pulled ahead with 7 points in the 4th quarter. The Power Players for this match were #22 Xiomara Thurman and #33 Nya Martinez both with 15 points.

Head Coach Kate Edge says about the season, "This has been an awesome and productive year for our STUNT team. We achieved so many firsts, and accomplished many goals. It is wonderful to have a team meet and exceed all expectations. I am also proud of the leadership of our returners and seniors. They have done so much to contribute to the success of STUNT for us."

 

Three Cardinals will finish the season as the overall team Power Players on the year. #7 Savana Ruffner (159 pts), #22 Xiomara Thurman (149 pts), #33 Nya Martinez (125 pts).
