Women's Basketball Falls at No. 1 Seed Indiana Tech

(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia women's basketball continued WHAC tournament play when they traveled to #1 Indiana Tech on Friday night.  The contest was a rematch of the 2021 WHAC championship game with the Cardinals looking to avenge last year's loss.  CUAA battled throughout the contest, but the team was unable to overcome the Warriors' hot shooting and fell 87-56.

Mackenzie Howe led Concordia with 12 points.  Alize Tripp finished second with 8 points.  Keirslynn Lawless and Taylor Leatherman tied for a team-high 5 rebounds.

Mackenzie Howe ended an 11-0 Indiana Tech run with a basket in the paint.  Howe added another layup and Zaria Mitchner converted an old-fashioned three-point play.  However, Indiana Tech led 19-7 after the first quarter.

Taylor Leatherman had the first basket in the second quarter when she weaved through the defense and scored.  Asaria Turman added a basket inside but the Warriors continued to extend their lead.  Izzy Viau and Alize Tripp drove to the basket and Tripp chipped in two more free throws, but CUAA trailed 37-18 at halftime.

Alize Tripp completed an "and-1" to start the third quarter.  Mackenzie Howe nailed a 3-pointer from the corner and Stephanie Abraham added a triple.  Julia Hirt made a layup late in the quarter but CUAA trailed 67-35 after the third quarter.

Asaria Turman powered in the paint for two early baskets in the fourth quarter.  Mackenzie Howe knocked down another 3-pointer and Keirslynn Lawless scored a pair of buckets inside.  Julia Hirt made a late 3-pointer and Zaria Mitchner converted an "and-1".  Stephanie Abraham drove for a layup in the closing seconds but Indiana Tech claimed the 87-56 win.
