Women's Basketball tops UNOH 79-57

(Lima, OH) – Concordia women's basketball traveled to UNOH on Tuesday night for a WHAC matchup. The Cardinals headed into Thanksgiving break with another victory, securing a 79-57 win.

Taylor Leatherman led the team with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Abby Long finished second with 19 points. Julia Hirt was third with 9 points.

 

Chloe Bisballe opened scoring with a layup. Bisballe added a floater and both Taylor Leatherman and Emily McCalla drove for baskets. Both teams continued to push the fast break with Abby Long added a drive and Taylor Leatherman finishing an "and-1". CUAA led 15-11 after the 1st.

Taylor Leatherman hit a mid-range jumper to start the 2nd quarter. Leatherman added two more baskets and Abby Long knocked down a triple along with four free throws. Emily McCalla and Maren McCallister also scored as the action continued to be fast-paced. A late basket from Julia Hirt put CUAA ahead 38-27 heading into halftime.

 

Chloe Bisballe hit a triple to start the 3rd quarter. Julia Hirt added a 3-pointer and Taylor Leatherman made free throws with a layup. Brooke Brauher converted a pair of baskets inside and Abby Long knocked down another triple. Julia Hirt split the defense for a layup and both Emily McCalla and Taylor Leatherman made free throws for a 65-44 lead.

Abby Long made another triple to start the 4th. Julia Hirt and Ellery Baker scored layups and McKenzie Maciejewski drained a 3-point basket. Hannah Vallier and Izzy Hadley scored late in the game as the Cardinals secured the 79-57 win.

 

Concordia will return home on Wednesday, November 28 to host UM-Dearborn at 5:30pm.
